An Inspiring Mission
There’s a deeper mission behind Design Consign – to improve the quality of life for women in crisis in our local communities. All proceeds from sales go to The Gloria Foundation, a 501(c) 3 organization that provides resources to local safe houses and domestic violence organizations.
The foundation was formed in 2013, when White House Owner Karen Arakelian decided to give back on an all-embracing scale to the Northern New Jersey communities that had generously supported her businesses through flood, fire and economic downturns.
Crediting much of her long-term business success to the inspiration and support of her late mother Gloria, Karen founded the philanthropic wing of her business in her mother’s honor. Simultaneously, rather than sell a flood-ravaged property that formerly housed her Trade Division, she restored the space and used it to house this unique consignment shop, with profits going directly to The Gloria Foundation and the organizations this foundation supports.
Design Consign combines a commitment to providing clients with good quality home furnishings and apparel and a passion for aiding those who need help the most—the one-in-four women who experience domestic violence in their lifetimes. Our loyal clients enjoy the unique privilege of knowing that when they make a purchase, they’re having a direct, positive impact on the lives of domestic violence victims in their communities.
In addition to the safe houses and domestic violence centers, the Gloria Foundation supports the Morris Family Justice Center that opened in the fall of 2016.
